Feeding baby albino greens

joels417 Aug 13, 2003 12:12 AM

Ok, i got a pair of albino greens and they are great eaters. I am just wondering how much I should feed them. I usually feed them 2 small mice every 3-4 days. I would say they are around 6-7 weeks old. I was checking them out yesterday, and they looked like they were looking for food. So I offered them another mouse.

Was that wrong? Just monday they had 2 f/t mice. And then tuesday they take another? I would normally think this was over feeding. But they are young and very aggresive eaters...

any thoughts?

Your feeding schedule is not totally out of whack... I put my babies on a fairly aggressive feeding schedule - but I do try to give them larger meals less frequently. At one month of age, my babies are on one rat pup or weaned rat every week.

You'll get good growth either way, but if they spend a few more days without food in their stomach, it will give them a little more time to invest the food in growth, instead of just digestion.

Just my opinion...

thanks, i don't think they are ready for the rats yet, but i'll keep in mind the growth part.
