best method for measuring snout to vent?

sgg12899 Mar 29, 2007 06:57 PM

Anyone know the correct way to measure snout to vent length in leopard geckos/lizards. Using a typical one foot ruler isn't very accurate. When it is pressed against the underside of the gecko the vent tends to move up and down with the ruler distoting the measurment up to 1/4 inch.
thanks

Use sewing material ruler. They are bendy and very easy to measure.

you could always take a photo of your gecko with a ruler in the picture for 'scale' and use serpwidget to mark out the length.
