Help with a website search...

BrandonSander Mar 30, 2007 08:42 AM

A while back I ran across someone selling rack plans on a CD for about $20 (roughly). The racks appeared to be primarily built from 2x4s and the plans were advertised as being very flexible - meaning it wouldn't be to difficult for me to adapt them to my own needs.

Here's my problem... I can't for the life of me track the site down. If anyone knows either who runs the site or what the link is I would really appreciate it if they could either post the link here or email it to me.

brandonsander @ hotmail . com Just remove the spaces (I know sometimes the KS contact link doesn't always work for some people)

Thank you VERY much.

Thanks Chris! By the way... if I could afford to pay a finder's fee do you really think I'd be making my rack out of 2x4's? LOL Thanks again, man, I really do appreciate it.

No problem. I remembered part of the name and found it in a search.

What sized box is that rack for? As an alternative for larger boxes, I have found flush hollow-core doors to make for a very economical rack and somewhat lightweight rack.

And a hell of a lot easier to build if you can fit a design which does not require cutting the doors like this.

If you do need to cut the doors it does add a bit of work but not too much.

I'm looking to build a larger rack for my adult ball pythons and also to have the plans on hand when I'm able to locate (and afford) some of the other species I would like to eventually pick up.

I'm not exactly sure which tubs I'll go with yet. I'm most likely just going to comparison shop between some of the home improvement and department stores in my area and see who has the tubs closest to what I'm looking for.

I know a lot of people use the CB-70s for adult balls, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to find them.

I'm sure not all of these are "rack suitable" animals but for those that are I would like to be able to have plans on hand for when I'm ready to purchase:

White Lipped Pythons (black phase)
Papuan Pythons
Diamond Pythons (pure diamond ... not this 75% stuff...just not my taste)
Angolans
Dwarf Burmese
Bredli

Yeah... that's about my dream collection. No special "phases" or "morphs" of any of the above. The wild type are cool enough for me. Right now, I'm focused mainly on my ball pythons for two reasons:
1. Space...they don't take up much.
2. My marriage... I know she loves me but if I buy too many too quickly I have a feeling she'll have me constructing a "Husband Rack" to sleep in. (Good thing I'll have plans.) LOL

Maybe you should patent and market that husband rack. Then you'll be able to afford your dream collection, LOL.

I know a lot of people use the CB-70s for adult balls, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to find them.

The CB-70 is my favorite box of this size. It's very sturdy and the inside is completely flat, making it easy to clean. I believe Office Depot or Office Max will order them for you and not charge shipping. Personally, I prefer to get my boxes from ReptileTubs.com - great guys, great company. I understand Vision also makes a version now that is even more durable.

I have friends who keep all of these species, except for Angolans. Unfortunately with these I think you're absolutely going to need cages for adults as I can't think of a box appropriate for any of them, save for the racks that Freedom Breeder sells. Again, except for Angolans which should do fine except for the largest females.

The Gold Phase White Lips might do okay in a CB-70, but I think the blacks get too big. These are my favorite python species. I used to keep a small group of the Golds.
