Also, doesn't I/O paint have oil base?
I think I read that only latex paint is acceptable?
Don't want to sound stupid but what is MDF?

Hi ! I used MDF for my shelves on my Racks and I have several different types on them and have had them up for about 5-6 years now with no ill effects . As for the paint ? I’m not shore what you used but most water base paints are ok. Thanks David of DS Reptile Rescue
i have some custom cages that my brother in law built for my beardies, out of interior grade plywood. i painted the insides with an oil based white paint, i allowed a week or so of drying to allow the fumes to settle down. they've been in there for 2 years now and never had a problem. i know it's not a direct response to your mdf question but someone raised concern about your paint selection. you should be fine, just let it air out first.
Yep as long as you let that oil based paint cure it will be fine and allot tuffer then water based paints.I would wait atleast a week for cureing time.
