i just got done building a cage for my red tailed boa that i put vinyl/linoleum tiles in the bottom and painted the sides and top with a thick layer of drylok. sofar its doing great. if you would like me to give you an update about how its holding up in a week or two, you can e-mail me at ocelot012@aol.com. just make sure you waterproof the bottom before or during the installation of the tiles. i ended up running a bead of silicon just overlapping the edges of the tiles and layed them in, then once they werte all layed in i went over the cracks again.
good luck,
connor

In the green tree python community MDF cages lines with shelf liner (aka contact paper) are very popular and some have lasted for years. If anything I would expect a GTP to have a moister substrate than the species you listed, with the possible exception of the Blood Python. I do know some GTP enthusiasts who keep their substrate saturated in order to keep humidity up.
What sort of vinyl do you plan to use? Sheet vinyl, vinyl film or what?

Current snakes:
0.0.1 Gonyosoma oxycephala - Java locale (green)
1.2 Gonyosoma oxycephala - Jave local (green)
2.2 Gonyosoma janseni - Seleyar locale (all black)
1.2 Gonyosoma janseni - Celebes locale (Black & Tan)
I'm gonna use sheet vinyl. I plan to get the material today. I should have some pix up soon.
I really like the MDF caging. The cages below are newly built and house some of my Banded Rock Rattlesnakes. Measurements are 49"L x 20"H x 24"D, granite contact paper and forest green (right cage), vinyl flooring, 18" fluorescent and RHP. The front of the cages are neatly framed with 1x3 and 1x4 "select pine". My klaubs are misted in April and May, so the contact paper really does the job (seal wall seams with 100% GE silicone II). You can get these cage designs from Greg Maxwell's website.
