The World's First Snow Suboc..It's Here!

dustyrhoads Mar 31, 2007 06:22 PM

Okay...I thought I'd drop a bomb in the forum.

This has to be one of the most anticipated colubrid morphs of the last 15 years.
Ever since the first wild-caught Albino Suboc was found in West Texas on TX Hwy. 277 in 1993, when the Barkers and Soderberg embarked to perpetuate the morph in captivity...ever since then, people had dreamed up visions of Snow H-Snakes in their heads. And they gossiped, and talked, and speculated as to when the "Holy Grail" Snow would hatch. (Go read some of the KS chats with the Barkers and Soderberg.)
Well, here it is. Craig Trumbower sent this photo to me of the snow along with an albino sibling.
It's a beautiful snake, and I must say that I'm very pleased that the classic suboc pattern is still plainly visible. There is no red, no yellow - just snow white and the iridophoric color of the Hs and nuchal stripes. Enjoy!

Nice! Thanks for posting the pics. So those were from one of Craig's clutches? I love the color in that albino blonde.

Now we know what to look forward to hehe.

Sean.

Yeah, that was from Craig.

That's actually a normally patterned albino. If you look carefully, you'll see that neck stripes and Hs. I agree, that's a very pretty colored albino.

for pointing that out. The centers of those H's are so large it at a glance looked more like poorly formed blonde blotches than thick middled H's. Of course the neck lines(I didn't spot em first glance) are a dead give away.

Still like the color on it. Can't decide whether I like the soft color of other albino's I've seen or that ones flamboyant colors better though lol.

Man you really caught me off guard with that one Dusty. As you said it's especially nice the way the pattern on it still shows with it being a snow. Randy

Mabee I don't view enough but is that the orangest albino anywhere around? Nice on both counts. I would imagine there will be some variation in the snow as there is variation in albino and variation in other snow's I have seen in other species. Where do we go from here?

Wow-a great and long overdue accomplishment. This should only increase the popularity of my personal favorite colubrid! Thanks for posting that, Dusty.
