Please help me!!

phironix Mar 31, 2007 11:02 PM

This is my first time breeding crested geckos and I was cleaning out the tupperware the eggs were in and had the eggs sitting on a towel on the table...when behind my back my dog got ahold of my healthiest egg! I caught him and he knew he was in trouble and he dropped it. The egg looks still good as new but now I am really upset because it has been tossed and turned! Is the egg gonna die? Please help!!

It's difficult to tell. Is there any physical damage to the exterior of the egg? What distance from the dog to the ground did the egg fall?

All you can probably do is incubate the egg with the others at the correct temperatures & humidity levels--if it changes colors, molds or caves-in, it most-likely was either infertile or the embryo died.

You can possibly "candle" the egg in a few days with a bright light & see if vascularization is occuring (vein formation...etc.). It would have an orange-ish color within the egg. This generally indicates a viable egg.

The egg has no damage, the dogs mouth was about an inch close to the ground when it fell. It is days from hatching, so I know it is fertile. Sorry for not being specific, I'm just freaking out.
