My 4 month old Chameleon recently developed a burn on his side, Im not sure if it was from him sunbathing in the florida sun or being in his cage and being burned by his heat source. Was wondering how it can be treated, and what do I do about him sunning himself I dont want it to get worst and he seems to just keep sunning the burnt side. I plan on going to vet but its sunday and nothing is open. He is eatting and drinking just needed some advice.

How close is his heat bulb to his enclosure and how many watts is it? Chances are it was from the bulb and not the sun unless it was a really hot day and he was resting on a metal surface.

Hey thanks 4 the reply,

Well he is about 7 inches from heat light its a 50 watt. Well I took him to the Vet and he said it was a bacterial infection. That he and I could become blue in the face trying to guess how he got it Said possible from a cricket bite. he also said the same as you that he wouldnt have gotten burnt from being outside. Over heated yes but not burnt.

Thanks again.

Did the vet do a culture to see what bacteria it was? Did the vet put your chameleon on medication?
