Nutrition table # 2...Good Life recipe

Severa Apr 01, 2007 05:43 PM

Thanks for all the posts/ discussion on the previous Nutrition table post. I realize that there are cheaper methods i.e going to feed stores and having them order. I really wish I was closer to a feed store so I could get the pellet. But, for now I am on the hunt for dog foods. Aside from dog foods, I use other supplementations for their diet. Thing seem to be going well so far.
So, once again I am in search of a cheap dog food that has no red dye or RED 40 in it. I found this new brand of dog food at walmart called The Good Life. I am a bit embarassed to say that I stood there for 10 minutes reading this table and saw NO Red 40. I however completely missed the 6 visual pellets on the back of the bag, two of them being red. My question is, is the Red dye listed under any other ingredient? If the food is red, does that mean it is Red Dye even though Red 40 is NOT on the table????
Thanks again folks!
Severa

I'm not sure if red dye has to be listed. I did notice though, that beet pulp is listed as an ingredient... that would make anything red.

Not only beet pulp, but dried tomatoes could make it red.

Worst of all, the first ingredient listed is corn meal. ALL corn products contain fungi that are bad for rodents, and the snakes that eat them.
