hey girl - how are you and the crew? A while back I mentioned Cyrus having lost some toenails form his baby days of climbing the screen and I think you said that Stitch had some "stumpies," too. Does he have a hard time grasping. With Cyrus I am not sure how much is his eye damage adjustment (he's doing pretty well) and how much is the lost toenails. I have decided to only use flexi/bio vine and kiwi vine as the natural branches seem too fat. Some times he just falls to one side (not OFF the branch, just a twirl).

Hope all is well and if you hear from anson ask her to email or call me - I have completely lost touch with fer and am bummed

thanks,
lele

Hi Lele!
Me and the crew are fine. Some sad news though.. I had to put Yosamite down. I'm still in pieces about it I miss my big ol' softy...
As for Stitches stumpies, they have all pretty much grown back. He spends alot of time free-roaming ( all day) and only goes in his cage at night, so he doesn't have much clinging to do, and his cage is not really a cage, but it semi-contains him. When Venus starts climbing the side of her cage, her nails break down too, but are usually back in a few weeks and I've never noticed any "twirling" from any of them. Maybe Cyrus is practicing on being a pole dancer, or maybe he was a stripper in his past life!!
Here are some picks of their toes. All I can say is Dang they hurt!!!! Rana can scratch better then any cat out there and Stitch applies 200 pounds of pressure when he grips!!! Needless to say, they can both bring tears to my eyes!!!! First pic is of Rana's nails, Second is of Stitches and you can see some of his are broken, but not all the way.....

Oh.. and I haven't talked to Anson in MONTHS!!! IF I find her somewhere, I'll have her check in! You do the same!!

I'm so sorry to hear about Yosamite Was it illness or just a good ol' ripe age?

Cyrus never grew back and frankly, the more I look at them I really wonder if it was from cage climbing or if he has some weird deformity. Luna was a screen climber as a youngin', too and she had all 20 claws - and used them! Not sure if you were here yet for the story of Luna hanging from my nose! Ouch!!

Cy is having a terrible time grasping with his front feet and I am trying to come up with the best branches. I have jungle vine, flexi-vine and fluker's bend-a-vine. I think the Jungle vine has the best grip for him. We just got 10" of snow last night (and no power for over 12 hours! Just covered his cage so he would sleep, Darwin is brumating - good thing- and Stan, one of my blotchies, was out of the sand waiting for the light to come on this morning so I had to cover the cage and hope he burrowed back in) so I will have to wait to redo his cage. Just too messy a job to do indoors.

Stay well!!

Hi there,
Yosamite was having issue's for a while. He would breath with his mouth open and we thought he had a respitory infection, Took him in for an x-ray and they found he had an enlarged heart and he was "panting" all the time because he wasn't getting enough air. He was o.k. for a while, then he started passing out and falling to the bottom of his cage and it just got worse, so my vet recommended putting him down. I cried and cried and cried, but when he passed out on me at the vets I knew he was suffering and it wasn't fair to him..... He weighted 7.5 grams and was 21 inches long and was a little over 3 years old when he passed. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it, but he was a big boy.
Gosh, I sure hope Cy feels better!! poor boy has had a run of bad luck!! What happened with the eye?? I must have missed that he was going in for surgery, what did they do??

Good vibes heading your way!!!

RIP- my marshmellow man!!

love that last photo...7.5g? wow, poor guy. it must have been awful for you but as you said, you knew it was time when he "told" you. I still think of Luna and it will be two years this summer

I haven't been posting here much so not sure if I discussed the ongoing saga. Yeah, he had yellow goo coming from it, then it seemed to shrink a little and become opaque so the Vet cut it off and sent it out for analysis. The "thing" was acellular but at the base was from the cornea. So now he has a blind spot on his pupil and cornea. Apparently he punctured his eye globe. Here are some pics - before and after. Just think all of this came from an excessive dry eye - no matter what I did - and he rubbed against the wrong thing in the wrong way and actually punctured it.

This was once it shrunk

After removal

After some extra vitamins

Wow, poor cyrus... It got really bad!!! Well missy, I wish the best for both of you!!! Give Cyrus a big kiss for me!!

Stupid sicknesses anyway!!!!!!!!!
