Anyones alterna breeding yet?

boomslang2050 Apr 01, 2007 10:44 PM

This is the first season any of my alterna should be mature enough to breed, but no luck yet. My "greeri" are going at it like crazy, but no reaction from my alterna. I have one good size black gap(Doherty), which is 2 years old and 2 females, one is 2 and the other is 3 yrs. The females have all been active and will check out the male when placed together. The male however takes a few sniffs up and down of the females then goes about his own business. They have all had their post cooling shed. Any advice? Has anyone else had luck yet this season with their alterna copulating? I'm thinking he may be still too young or it's still a little early in the season for them. Any Thoughts? I included a picture of him and a pair of Oshman Canyon alterna I found last July, they are not quite old enough yet, but doing great.

still a little early for alterna to be looked up unless you brought them out of brumation about Jan.Greeri always are my first to breed each year and my alterna are usually 30-45 days behind.

Nice looking osmann cyn snakes.

I brought every thing up around valentines day. So far I have had the following breed:
Corns (various)
Generic alterna phase (2nd year for female, last year she threw 12 eggs)
Castle Mtn Local alterna
Thayeri (Leonis - Grey/Green)

I have another pair of alterna together, but the female is WC from last year (277) and I am not sure if she will breed or not.
My greeri have not even shed yet, while 75% of every thing else has, so they have not even been put together.
I have two females who are slightly small, one has shed, one will in a few days, I am still contemplating breeding them this year (ill start another thread asking for advise)
