Hybrid question:

Has anyone ever cross bred C.Collaris and C. Bicinctores?

I was talking to someone about it this weekend, and I wondered what the outcome would be?

If you have pleeeease post pics?

Happens all the time Kelly, many people breed the 2

Also in the wild I believe there are hybid zones where the C. bicinctores come into contact with the C. collaris/ Baileyi.

Aaron here on the forum has a beautiful male bicictores (Darwin) and one of my female yearlings (aquaflame) I think one of our Netherland buddies has a pretty bicinctores/collaris crossed female. Just a couple examples, there are many of those crosses out there.

There is a spot about 15 miles from my house that C. bicinctores and C. collaris come very close to each other. I've been out a few times to look for natural hybrids and have been documenting the exact range of each species. There is rocky habitat between the areas that I've seen both species but haven't found collareds there but I'm sure they are there. I just have to be there at the right time.

I know of another spot where the collaris have complete front collars under it's throat, a bicinctores and nebrius trait.

There a DNA study done by David Orange that states all the bicinctores in Arizona have C. collaris genes in their makeup.

Currently I have 2 eggs from a bicinctores female and a nebrius male.
