Another large colubrid...

Pictured are two of my three Gonyosoma janseni. Well I actually have seven G. janseni, but four of them are from a different island and are all black. The specimens pictures are from Celebes/Sulawesi.

I have had adult imports of this form (specimens pictured are captive hatched yearlings) that were near 8' long if not more. It will be interesting to see how big these get.

I thought some of you Drymarchon/Spilotes/Pseustes keepers might be interested.

Beautiful snakes!

Does that species have a common name?

Looks similar to a Blue Beauty?

I have heard Jansen's Ratsnake, Jansen's Black-Tailed Ratsnake, Celebes/Sulawesi Ratsnake, etc. I don't think any of them really stick.

I have seen pictures of specimens that look like this, and yes they do sort of look like a Blue Beauty or Cave Dwelling Ratsnake.

But most G. janseni are black and tan. In fact you see that's how I have them listed in my signature. For all I know they will turn more tan as they grow.
