Spotted Python Laid Today & Question

KenRoshak Apr 02, 2007 10:55 PM

My girl gave me 11 beautiful eggs today. Not bad for her first clutch.

I have a trio that have been using a 40 gallon breeder since the fall. Do those of you who breed Spotteds choose to put the pairs back together or do you prefer to keep males and females separated? I don't want to double clutch my girls yet I hear a lot of Spotted breeders keep pairs together year-round. Looking for some feedback. Thanks.

Congrats on the eggs. Nice looking spotted as well. They won't double clutch, so you can keep them together if you want. I usually feed my female Antaresia a bunch of food before I put the male and female back together. Other than a couple months when the female is obviously gravid, after they lay, and after the female feeds up a while, they stay together the rest of the year.

Yeah, I'm excited this being her first clutch. She came through marvelous and ate ravenously a day later. Thanks for your advice of co-habitating the spotteds.
