Stuck eye cap

jon78 Apr 03, 2007 02:43 PM

my 05 male woma is usually a clean shedder. This time, his whole body shed clean but his nose and one eye were stuck. The nose piece came off easily, but the eye cap is another story. I tried to gently rub it off with my finer and some water with no luck. Any one have any tricks that may help, i want to take care of the problem asap to avoid infection. Thanks

It is delicate to remove, so make SURE it is there. You don't want to pull off the good scale because your snake will lose the eye. If it is just one shed, usually it is better to leave it alone and wait until the snake sheds again and it will come off.

I would get a cotten swab and dampen it with water or baby oil and roll it against the edges of the eye cap to losen it and if needed gently lift it off with tweezers.
