I own a young, 4.5 inch gecko which I believe to be female. She is housed in a 10 gal. tank. Today I just got a baby blizzard, which is about an inch smaller. When I tried to introduce them, they licked eachother, but the larger one always tries and bites the younger ones tail! In fear of the blizzard dropping its tail, I separated the 10 gal. lengthwise. How long before they can get along? Or is it possible I have two males???

Thanks,
Zach

Been together ever since with no probs and in fact have 2 other females with them now. dont know if will help your case all leos are diff, some get along with others some dont

They should be about the same size before you keep them together to keep the little one from being bullied. As far as introducing them, I agree with Dakman. Removing the original gecko and re-doing the whole cage is how I do it too.

Like I said, the little one is not MUCH smaller- only about an inch. About how long do you think it will be before their growth rates even out?

they'll probably even out when they're adults. If they are that close to the same size, you could try it. Just keep a very close eye on them. Make sure there are seperate hiding spots for both of them, and the little one gets its share of food. Good luck.

ive put some together with that much size diff and their doing fine, but like suggested be sure to keep a eye on them and seperate if that behavior continues. they all grow at diff rates so it could catch up really fast or never get as big. be sure it gets its share of food every feeding

Thanks! Also, how often do those little "nips" to the tail result in the tail being dropped?

only time ive seen nipping with my babies is at feeding, dont know about the tail droping thing, havent lost one yet. guess it would depend on how hard and/or how threatened the bitten Leo is.
