I have been breeding my 1500 gm het pie female x het pie male now since mid-december and I began palpating follicles 3 weeks ago or so. I have not observed any courtship behavior in the last month although it was daily before that. In the last month I have been waiting to observe ovulation but I have not seen anything yet. She hangs out on top of her hide which is the coolest place in her tub and refuses to eat. I can palpate 3-4 follicles about the circumference of a beer bottle cap and at some point in the last 3 weeks they seem to have moved about 5 inches toward her posterior. Today I take her from her tub and she has begun a shed cycle.
I am a high school teacher and am gone from my home at least 9 hours a day. Could I have completely missed her ovulation? Can a 3-4 follicle ovulation take place in less than 9 hours and leave no sign of occurance? I suppose I will know in the next 35 days or so. The anticipation is about to drive me insane. Thanks! Brad
