Cheap rack

locsmith Apr 03, 2007 09:31 PM

The boxies were bought at linens & things they were only 4.99 each. they are dif. from any other pull out box ive looked at these are completly inclosed on top and sides. with exception of small slits in back and front.they are about 14 in deep and 6 in wide and 6 in tall.room stays around 80 so if heat is needed i left space in back to place flex tape and hook up a helix. these will be 32 boxies . 4 wide 8 high.

What ya think?

Hmmm? How big are the drawers? That idea has possibilities. Let us know how it works for you?

14 3/4 in long
5 1/2 in tall
They were 4.99 each but i was getting 32 so i ask if mgr. if he could cut a little and he knocked 10 % off Cha Ching. penny saved penny earned

cut some holes in the top and put some turn buttons on there so nothing pops out of the front. Ive wondered about something like that myself. Check the back too, the ones I have looked at seem like they can squeeze out of the back. Any how. Its a great idea. Hope that works out for you. I think you should just make sure nothing can push out of the front. I had something push its way out of the drawer before so now I take a little more caution to things.

That I should prove the trait from. I am hoping that she is simple recessive because she throws all normal looking babies. So dont know the genetics yet. But I would LOVE to get an albino in her form wow!

I used boxes similar to that a few years ago and had several animals who would climb to the top of the drawer and nestle in between the top of the housing and the plastic drawer (it's hard to explain with words). They would situate themselves like arboreal snakes. The only way to get them down was to pull apart the surrounding housing (the top was snapped on) because I couldn't pull the drawer forward for fear of hurting them. At first it wasn't a big deal but several of them learned of this snug little spot and it eventually became a several times per day, per animal thing. They also have the ability at that point to lodge themselves down the side of the plastic drawer and when you pull the drawer out, they can get behind it making it VERY dangerous to them. Also, the ones I purchased had a "latice" type of bottom so they could get down in there and slither away after getting lodged down the side and after I opened the drawer. I decided to scrap the entire idea and buy a rack system with heat installed. SOOOOO much easier.

Cool way to house them...I like those containers as they do not allow for escapes...The shroud is complete.
