Good Idea ? / Bad Idea?

Kewl_Breeze Apr 03, 2007 09:48 PM

I was just wondering if anyone has ever contemplated a Boa Registry....I wonder what it would look like?...If someone began one , would it have support, participation?....What are your thoughts on a Boa Registry?

What a long strange trip it's been..............

very basic right now. Eventually each name will link to a picture. In the end the main page will be the subspecies, each will be a link to the definition of the subspecies and a list of the locales. Under each locale will be a link to a description followed by the morphs. For locales with a lot of morphs they will be in categories of recessive, co-dominant, dominant, dual, triple and other. Then each morph will be listed on those pages with pictures to each.

the start. The poster is suggesting an AKC, CKC, FCI, etc. type of system for boas.

Why give the government another reason to control and tax us. It a dumb idea. we already losing most of our freedom slowly already.

Example:
1.)What happen if u dont go to jury duty? "Go to Jail"
2.)What happen if u smoke in a restaurant? "You Get FINE"
3.)Why we pay so much tax? ( To pay for other country poor? Not USA"

Need i say more

It would take some serious work, money, and time. It could be a great system, but having past experience in dog-breeding, no such system is fail-proof. The most distinguished dog registry (AKC) has been flawed several times. Seeing how well-organized the dog registries appear, I'm not sure as to effectiveness of a boa registry. However, the boa community is much smaller than the dog community and we could easily track down those attempting false registries.

I have been involved in dog, horse, and game fowl breeding all my life. It has been my contention all along that quality animals come from quality paperwork and honest men.

I thought that I knew a little about genetics until I got involved with the Boas. I son found out that these reptile people really have it going on when it comes to genetics. My thought is a registry would be a very useful tool as we continue to explore the vast untouched possibilities with these animals. We all know the recipe for our projects and pass the information along verbally.

I feel that we are loosing valuable data by not having a body recording what’s going on. Right now is the time to act while we are in or infancy.

Of course as in all registries someone will try to manufacture and catalogue felonious paperwork. However, they are found out sooner or later and the reputation suffers.

I am just a Newbie and unsophisticated on the topic. However I would challenge the people of influence in this community to take the (in my opinion) next step in protecting and securing the future of theses magnificent animals in our charge.

As for me if anyone thinks this is a good viable undertaking. I am willing to help in the registry establishment. Thanks for your comments.
