Cool new food that I found today.....

HerpCrazy May 21, 2003 01:19 PM

I went to the feed store and to my dismay they were out of Mazuri blocks that I usually use, well I cruised around the wearhouse and read ingredient and analysis and settled on "Ranch Hand Select 12N" a supplimental feed for cattle.
It is 12% protien, 1% fat, 18% fiber vs. Mazuri's 16% protien, 6% fat and 5% fiber.
What really got me to get the food though, the ingredients, 8 total and I could pronounce them all, lol.
Mazuri has 43 total ingredients and I won't go into the pronunciation thing...
I know the fat and fiber are both off, but I also feed scratch grains, dog food, sunflower seeds, and Animax (calf manna). I think it'll even out.

The price was also unbeatable......$4.95 for a 50lb bag! Compared to Mazuri's $18.95 that I've been paying.

Nice big blocks too, whew now I won't have to change out the mesh on my racks. (I was going to switch to dog food, but couldn't find a brand that was big enough)

I'll let ya'll know how my guys do on the new diet.

Later,
Jen

Sounds like a good "filler" but I would kick in some cat or dog kibble to bring up your protein levels or you are gonna end up with wrung out moms or a lot of cannabalism. I haven't thought of going that route...my low protein end of my mix is a dove seed mix...about the same stats, then I add it to kibbles.
