Kassina maculata?

Kolbey Aug 13, 2003 10:03 AM

I recently purchased a male Kassina maculata as an unknown tree frog. He has a heavy parasite load and I sent a fecal sample in today for a float test. My vet does not work with amphibians often and I was wondering if anyone uses any meds. for internal parasites other than panacure or flagyl? Also, I like these big-eyed African frogs so well that I would like to get a few more. If anyone knows of some for sale without a $300 minimum purchase please let me know and I will email you. Thanks.

Just wondering why you were looking for something else other than Panacure. I actually am currently treating a frog with it, and it has worked successfully on my other three frogs. Are you just looking for something that doesn't neccessarily need to be prescribed? Even though frogs are small, they just give me feeding syringes, and weigh the frog in grams, then calculate the amount. Just curious why you didn't want to use it....

Just to update. The fecal came back as strongyloides. He prescribed strongent. The vet had concerns that Panacure might effect its matabolism.
