EGGS!!!!!

Buggzter Apr 04, 2007 11:40 AM

OK, so Tony did not get the chance to see the eggs this morning - work and all... but Dawn was skinny and ate all the crickets he gave her in about 1 minute! I'll update you this evening, but for now.... YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have to worry about her being egg-bound, and now I get to incubate!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

ps - I've noticed that half the year we are either brumating, mating, laying or hatching. Are the other 6 months for de-stressing before the next season of stress? lol!

Thanks you guys! I have a question: what are good ways to increase the humidity? I've had a bowl of water right on the heat from the start, and the sand is as damp as is possible without being water-logged, and yet the good eggs all are indented. The runty egg is in the best shape tho still soft and slightly yellow... I'm about to put a damp towel on top of the cooler instead to help the humidity, and maybe add another water bowl. I also just bought peat moss to switch them into instead of the sand... We'll see. But there are 5 good eggs at least, and I'm hoping the runt turns out well too.

What are good treats for Dawn to have, to increase her caloric intake? She ate well yesterday, but she wasn't too enthused this morning, apparently... I'm thinking wax worms... I'm also about to get a weeping mulberry for silkworms for my chams, and I think they might be a good treat for the three collareds as well. I'm hoping to devise a way to not let Spike eat so much - he is shedding every other week right now becuase of how much he's eatting! I just wish Dawn would eat like him for about a week... lol! Alright, g2g take care of the two-legger youngling...lol!

Yep, it's helped me alot actually... I'm just a nervous mommy... and the eggs just plumped back up for me after a night with the water right on the heat source. It was above it before, but not right on it so didn't make as much humidity... But they all seem great right now. So happy... loL!
