They would probably be ok, but I would be far more concerned about the fact that mom was not coiled around them.

Often that can mean the clutch is not viable. You sure they are not slugs? Another thing you could do would be to candle them.

It's never a good sign when the mom leaves the eggs, but I don't think it's 100% death sentence. Definitely keep us updated on what they do.

any idea on how long before i know if there good or bad..if there dead right now will i be able to tell in a few days or will it take a week or more??? right now they look as good as my others laied on the 1st and i will gladly let everyone know the out come...thanks

I think you will know in the first week or two what you can expect from them.

The mother just seems to have a sense of when a clutch is not good and she shouldn't waste 2 months of non-eating time wrapped around them.

I had a first timer climb off her eggs last year - I waited for a day hoping she would get back on them (since I usually maternally incubate) when she didn't I pulled the eggs and they all candled good - I set them up in the incubator but after a few days they started dying off. Can't be certain what went wrong - perhaps mom knew more than what she was letting on. But then again - many times they roll out eggs that survive once placed in the incubator!

Good Luck!!!!

You can see the embyo moving around pretty early I believe. Its like a black dot at the beginning. It will move form time to time, but you might be better of not fooling with them too much.

i have had a young female do this with her eggs she left them i didnt breed the snake she was shipped to me gravid so maybe shipping her had something to do with her leaving them but 3 out of the 5 eggs hatched and the babies were fine nothing special just normal ball pythons but there is hope for these eggs keep us updated

She could have been trying to warm herself in order to keep the eggs warm. I know sometimes when a green tree pythons nest box is kept too cool they will go out and bask before returning to the eggs. That way they can release body heat to try to raise the temp of the eggs to a proper level. I have not heard of this in ball pythons but it may be possible.
