Sonora boa (with a surprise)...

RioBravoReptiles Apr 04, 2007 04:58 PM

Ok.. nice Sonora boa wiith good color and loads of specs!
.

.
.. the surprise is underneath..
.

.
... the ventrals are flaming coral-orange-red! It's not that uncommon in Mexico boa populations. What many may not have witnessed is this; when you grab one of these in the wild they may display the underside of the belly and tail in a warning or whatever (like a ringneck-snake).. it grabs your attention.
.
Have fun, be safe!

posting the pictures.

My Leopard (Sonoran) has an orange belly, but not under his tail. It goes from tip of snout to vent and out and up the sides a little. Really cool. I had no idea about the information you described in your post.

Thanks for sharing.

Any Sonorans expected this season?
