FLAohHerper Apr 04, 2007 06:11 PM

My 7 foot female has been being bred for the last 2-3 months on and off from the same male.Needless to say,she hasnt eated since.Recently she has been looking skinny with skin flaps.I figured no eating because gravid, but not it doesnt look healthy at all. Also, she has fresh water and ideal temps, between 80-90 at all times....can anyone help or have ideas?

thanks,
mike

did you notice any kind of ovulation or any swelling while breeding occured? being skinny is not always a bad thing. Typically the female will get skinny in her top half like you described where skin can almost flap, and they will get fat in the bottom half. or if there is no noticeable bulge, It could just mean a smaller litter awaits instead of a very large litter. I think I speak for a lot of people on this forum when I say, determining whether a snake is gravid or not can be both very difficult and frustrating. Your best bet is to keep trying to offer food, if she refuses, don't panic. It's just a waiting game. I hope this helps.
