"temporalis" and Snook with a face !

DMong Apr 04, 2007 06:38 PM

Since fishing is my other "BIG" hobby, Seeing Dell with that "bruiser" Peacock Bass compelled me to show you guys the biggest Snook I ever caught to this day!!. It was caught just south of Ft.Lauderdale,FL. in the Intracoastal Waterway about a decade ago.

I,ve caught a few really big ones in the 36" to 42" range, but this monster of 44-3/4" is my "all time record" to date!!. It weighed a whopping 33-1/2 pounds!!! .......no wonder I'm smiling from ear to ear!!LOL
To give you a good comparison, I'm 6'2" tall!

To stay on topic, here's a neat little "temporalis" from some Calvert County,MD. stock.

~Doug

Thanks Tom!,...Although they are capable of even getting much bigger than that, it is extremely rare, and usually they are MUCH smaller than the one pictured.

I know many people who have caught them all their lives, and have never come close to one that big. That one was truly a "world class" Snook!

My best is a 44" (35lb) that had just laid her eggs.
Damn nice for a west coaster...

Correction!!,.......that's damn nice for ANY coast!LOL
but yes, especially for a west coast!........WOW!

mine was caught after laying eggs too, or she would have had a few more pounds as well.

Glad you know the feeling of adrenaline when hooking up to one of those!.......not to many things can compare!(maybe sex), but that happens way more often than landing a "MONSTER" like both of us have caught,....Right!!LOL

Let's just HOPE we can catch another one as big, or bigger in the future!, although probably NOT!!LOL, but that's okay too, at least I can look at the awesome framed photo to re-live the great memory!....know what I mean?

best regards, ~Doug
