Habba Mist &terra

herper79 Apr 04, 2007 10:40 PM

Not sure if this is the right forum to post in, but your pics on this forum look like the terraium I want to build. I want to house a few diffrent kinds of animals, tropical frogs, small geckos, green snakes (the ones that only eat insects). So I have a 60 gal tank and I want to build a water feature and also fill it with tropical plants and these animals. I just got a habba mist that is brand new for free and I am wondering if anyone has used this and if they have noticed any problems. Also what kind of dart frogs would be best suited in this tank.
Thanks,
Nick

I have heard some good things and some bad things about the product. I haven't used it myself so I can't say one way or the other. I can recommend the Big Apple misting system that they sell with their own name. It is a very good product. That is what I am using to mist my tank with additional nozzles. All my plants are growing great and filling in the the landscape.
I don't think you should put the pets you have together in a 60 gallon tank. I do not think there is enough room in there for everyone. There is no way you can provide addiquate room and hides for everyone of them. Plus mixing animals in a tank really isnt' a good idea to begin with in my opionion. You are risking the health of the animals by exposing them to each other and they might be exposed to stuff from each other that they are not equipped to handle or fight off.

I agree that its not a good idea to mix these species. The 60 gallon would make a very nice vivarium for frogs or geckos alone. If it were me I'd do frogs in the 60 and get 2 smaller tanks for the geckos and green snakes if you really can't stick to one.

After looking at dart frog needs I decided to just probably go with other frog species or fire belly toads. I was really just seeing if there was a certian kinf of mantella or dart that is easier to keep or shares a tank better, and how the habba mist has worked out. I know a couple of people who have setups like the one I am describing but even smaller and there's have worked for years. except they have not had dart frogs in it, just diferent types of tree frogs and smaller toads. So I am still going to look into it and I will let you all know how it works.
