Hmmmm, interesting observation......

has a lot to do with timing, I weighed my clan yesterday. One very noticeable weigh in was Bullseye, she had gained 225 grams since 3/10. All water gain since she has not eaten since February. I'm thinking cool, that much weight gain could only be going towards babies. Well today, she's in a water bowl mating with Tommy!!!! I'm thinking this may be similar to the "Big drink" identified by Jeff Ronne, It's an ovulation indication in boa constrictors that Jeff has noticed. Right about ovulation time, the female will take a big drink of water. To the point where there's a noticeable drop in the water bowl level. Maybe BRB's have a similar "big drink" at or near ovulation.

BTW, 225 grams of water is the equivalent of a full 8 oz deli cup.

interesting stuff Dave, it would make sense to take in extra water to help the body with reproductive efforts, all that stuff going on has to be demanding on the females body and extra water makes sense to help compensate for excess water loss during gamete formation. Both fat and water are probably vital for a successful reproductive cycle to occur from beginning to end.

....and Hello! to you, too!

Have you observed any correlation of ovulation to barometric pressure or lunar phases?

....may be an odd question, but you got me thinking....

If my record keeping was more accurate, I would have much more of an opinion on this subject in respects to BRB keeping.
