Doug Dix has uros & chucks. Lindsay Pike maybe too.
Sorry no chucks....Your talking about chuckawallas? Right?
I was going to get one instead of my tortoise but my tort was just screaming for me! LOL so i got him instead. But i still have been thinking about this as well. They are cute and crazy. LOL
Yep I'm taliking about chuckwallas, I love my Uro's but from what I understand chucks can become pretty tame with handling and are native to the U.S., these factors along with chucks not needing such high temps seems to me like it would make them easier to handle and keep out of their habitat for longer.
Here's a copy of my post in the chuck forum if anyone could be of assistance, it would be appreciated.
Is it necessary to hibernate chucks during the winter, or can their temps stay constant year-round? Also are Angel Island chucks a good chuck to start out with? I've had uromastyxes and snakes for years, so I'm not really new to herps. How long can they be handled outside of their enclosure in average room temp of 78 degrees or so? Does anyone have experience with Exotic Pets in Vegas? They have Angel Island young chucks for $225 is that a fair price? Anyone know the average lifespan? The care sheets I've found aren't really as extensive as my Uro care sheets so any additional info would be appreciated. Sorry for the randomness of the questions, kinda in a hurry, thanks again for any help.

Hi, I have 4 chucks and love them. Their personalities can be quite funny, lots of ATTITUDE. All of mine are handled/friendly, and I let them run around each day in the reptile room.
One I got at 12 weeks, he is now 7 years old and follows me like a dogie, a real Lap chuck, but you do have to put in the time.
The angel island chuck would be good, they are pretty docile temperment wise. The price sounds about normal. Never got anthing from Exotic pets, but anytime I ever emailed them , they were super kind, and always got back fast (which is important to me)
As far as chucks, they need space, love their veggies/greens/dandilions, flowers/ and mone love chunks of banana. Eat like PIGS,
funny they dive in to their bowls, rip at the greens toss em, and just enjoy meal time. They come running for goodies. ( Mine do anyway)
If your looking to breed than yes they need a brumation/cooling time in the colder seasons.
As far as the chuck forum, they are a great bunch there, full of knowledge (with many years experience) just slow sometimes.
Any questions just holler.
