montane(mountain)species such as benti and geyri are notoriously difficult to care for. Why exactly?
I know weather patterns are usually different on mountains, and if you ever "tour" a mountain(hike, drive up whatever) to even pick a flower is a crime(state or federal even)because "it is a delicate eco-system, things exist here that exist nowhere else"etc.
the air is different, it gets cold FAST(i have never been been to africa but follow me)etc.etc.etc.
so my question is what are the most common problems with acclimating these species and how have they been overcome?
Is it getting them to eat? Is it too hot-not hot enough during the day, too hot at night? UVB is usually more intense high up, I think. The highest known UVB reading so far was on a mountain in Hawaii somewhere.
Anyone who has experience with these species- what problems will I most likely encounter if I purchase such an animal?
