Here are my little ones "sharing" food.
It is a lone male I picked up from a friend of mine. I sold her a pair of babies awhile back and she got this guy in and asked if I wanted him. So of course I could not resist
They are cool monitors looks like yours are getting along nicely.
How are the waters doing? I got back fromvacation to a mess with mine. While I was gone the male attacked the female and left her some pretty good wounds on her front legs. She is healing nicely though and has climbed out of her cage 3 times today so i assume she must be feeling better.
Hi,
Very nice rudicollis. I am currently working on a comprehensive paper on this species...want a peek of it when I am done? It will be done in about 1 month or so when I recieve data from S.E. Asia/Canada.
Thanks for sharing!

Sure I would like to see it once you got it finished.
These are another great species of monitor and this guy is a pleasure to work with. All of the babies I have ever had were easy to work with as well just seem very fragile. I am sure once people get captive bred babies comen around that will help.
Anyone heard from draggon? how are her egg's coming along anyways?
Hello.
Been real busy doing stuff and messing up my lizard's lives.
I killed my big egg, the one I was hoping was twins. Its dying fast..another temp. drop, my fault.
My poor female has had a bad week, I decided she wasn't gravid, and returned the male to the cage. She keeps jumping out during water changes and wandered too near the extra male I have while he was eating. He ran out and attacked her, picked her up and shook her. I grabbed him by the tail and shook him.. he let her go. She has a huge slice in her hind knee, she's limping now. I found a couple eggs in the cage today... guess she's been pregnant all along. Poor girl.. talk about having a baby in the middle of the freeway..
I suck.
11 eggs from April still look good. IN SPITE of me, I super suck.
I'm pretty much screaming in frustration now. She really did not look pregnant. Oh well, its still my fault.
See ya around.
Goon.

Sorry to hear about all the troubles. Don't worry everyone has been there if not they will sooner or later. I left my male and female waters together while on vacation and he tore her up. I would post pics but they are quite graphic. She has been healing for a week now and is climbing out of her cage. So I figure if she can do that she can't be to upset over it.
Hope your egg's make it for you. it would be nice to see some captive bred brn's out there. I am going to be on the lookout for a female for this male I just got. He is without a doubt all male he is huge anyone could see he is a He.
Hi Dragoon,
You are doing a fine job with your rudicollis - you got eggs, a mated pair and you have added 12 pieces of information to the meager library on V. rudicollis! Have you measured the eggs with a ruler (Lxw)? This can help tell if they are good or not. Also, you have 11 more! There is so much we do not know about this species - but I hope to shed some more light on this species, and look forward to any information you are willing to share - even disappoointments have merit! You will see from the paper when its finished = and there is some good data there, nobody thought to look at? Maybe nobody cared?? I do.
Good Luck, Cheers D.,

Thanks so much for the encouragement, to all.
Here I am, in the middle of a major power outage, worrying about lizard eggs! My street just got power an hour ago, I hope it stays on. I was just considering going to bed with the container of eggs on my stomach, all wrapped up in a blanket. I can sleep on my back, and I don't move much when I sleep...hey, it worked when I had to keep my iguana warm during a power outage!
I just measured a couple eggs, they are all roughly 2 inches by 1 and a half inches. That gives no indication of volume, though. Trust me, they are all greatly varied in volume. The real big egg was 3 inches before it died. There is the imprint in the vermiculite where it was, it has now shrunk down and yellowed. It happened within 6 hours, that's why I said it died fast. What's gross is there is a couple bumps visible in the flaccid eggskin. A nose? legs? I will cut it open when I get up the nerve.
I got my computer fixed last week, but its now messed up again. I cannot access my email or download pics. I'm surprised I got on to this site. I'm hoping I can send you pics and stuff within a week, if the kid from work can't fix my computer, I'll just mail them to you.
I wish I had some closeup pics of the eggs. The size and shape differences are so cool, considering they were cookie cutter uniform when laid. Some are almost round, some long.
The new eggs don't look good to me, but what do I know? They are white and all, but are slightly thinner in the middle than these ones were when new. So I'm guessing they are bad.
Ana could have used a stitch or two for her knee, but I'm glad I opted not to. I'm not sure how the stress of getting stitched would have affected her healing or hanging on to the eggs I didn't know she was carrying. It's hard not to mess with an injury, but I'm going to wait for some sign she can't handle it on her own. It hardly bled, though its a big injury. Why is that? They don't need capillaries near their skin surface like we do? ours serve to cool us off, reptiles dont need that function?
I saw your post on rudi color variations. Very interesting.
Mine are just black, Ana has white striping on her chin and chest. I'll have to get a pic of that, its pretty. She is only blue the week before a full body shed. I'd like to see pics of different colored rudis.
cheers,
D.
They really can do nasty things to each other. I'm sure she will heal up nicely though. It is almost creepy how quickly they can heal, without any intervention.
Good Luck, I can't wait to see those little rudis
