Caseywagner Apr 05, 2007 06:02 PM

Hi,
I've never posted here but have a few corns. Also have boas, and balls. I have a female that is laying a clutch right now an wanted to know how I tell if there good or not. I candled them and cant see veins like I do in my ball eggs? She has 12 out so far and more to come. Also wanted to check temp for incubation? Thanks,
Casey

I would set them up in the incubator(I'm sure you have)and candle them again in a couple of weeks.I can't remember for sure, where I first heard about this but,it works for me. Good Luck!! Jeff

Unfertilized, or bad eggs, have more of a yellow tinge to them and look more rubbery (if that makes sense). I like to seperate ones that look bad, and set them up seperate from the others. After a few weeks the bad ones will usually start to mold and deflate, although not always.

In this pic you can see a few bad eggs mixed in with a bunch of good ones. The one closest to the snake is bad, as well as the one to the far left, and one on the bottom left.

I let my eggs sit at room temp. 76-78 degrees and it normally takes 60-70 days to hatch.
