Baby's first shed pics

DaveyFig Apr 05, 2007 07:15 PM

This is the first of last weeks litter to shed. I told Denny that I wouldn't post individual pics of the whole litter until they have all shed and he has gotten to pick his out, but thought I could post the first. She is a little more pink than I like, but a decent lookin snake.

Do you feel it is okay to label that morph as Dominant?

I just added it to the list: GilbertBOAS.com.

Let me know, I will probably put a polygenic/line bred sub category in there this weekend and it might be better there.

Chris, without breeding a DP to a DP, I wont know exactly what it is genetically. I can say that they are NOT line bred, as I have never duplicated breedings using the same mothers, nor bred the babies back to anything related. I did attempt a second litter using the 04 mother and the resulting second litter was all slugs.
There have been breedings outside of my breeding trials , using males from my 03 litter. The resulting litters(as all of mine have) included laterally striped boas, with an abundance of yellow, and nearly spotless bellies.
I think they are co-dom, or dominant, but cannot be sure. There are animals on the list though that have not been proven, nor will they ever be proven , but they have found places they fit.
I don't think they are just pastels, and even with all of the prior evidence have never made any bold statements about them, but I will go ahead now.
The hyperxanthic apearance IS genetic. The lat striping IS genetic. Most of the babies have tail striping like the father, and a large percentage have no spots underneith.
If they prove to be dominant in the 07-08 season, the name will not change, even though it would finally be proven to the community. DP was adopted by forum users in 03 to describe the animals in this group, and even if it is proven to be something more than a pastel, I will not change midstream. If there is a super DP made, I will call it just that, a Super DP.
