worried about egg, please reply soon

aroth Apr 06, 2007 07:44 AM

So yesterday I noticed that 4 of our eggs have big indention's on the top. I know that this could mean that they are to dry but my hydrometer is reading 100%. So I hurried and got on the chat here and asked if this was normal. I was told that snake eggs do that before they hatch, so happy and relived I did nothing more other than check the eggs ever 5 mins for change. Well we are going on 20 hours since I noticed the indention's and there has been Zero change if any thing the indention's are a little bigger, now I am worried. I have looked and read a lot before I started this breading project and even more since then and I never read any thing about this happing unless the eggs are dry. This is my first clutch with beardies... I feel like a nervous mother awaiting the birth of her child LOL!

Are they almost ready to be hatched? If they are about at that date then it's probably because they are going to hatch soon. If not then it could be that they are infertile, not sure exactally.

Yesterday they hit their 58th day so I was hoping that was the case, I am just worried because they have not done anything since then, and actually one of them that had been looking excellent up until yesterday is getting that yellow/orange color that the infertile eggs get. It just seems weird that would happen so late in the game. I hope I am just suffering from the expectant mother syndrome and worrying to much.
I wonder why the books do not talk about indention before hatching.
thank you.

Hmmm....I would have to say it is that they are getting ready to hatch, now i could be wrong but that is my best guess, and i would just wait and see. All should be well if all has been wel for 58days. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thank you, I will keep you posted. I can't wait to see them! This is my first experience with eegs hatching even though I have had beardies for 7 years now. I thought I knew every thing I needed to know. I have read so many books but I guess there is always something the be learned.

Everyone is always learning. No harm done in that!!

At 58 days infertile eggs would have gotten moldy and rotted long ago. The eggs "dimple" shortly before hatching. Be patient. Keep in mind that all the eggs may not hatch. At 84 degrees eggs generally hatch in 64-68 days /-

I said if they were just put in the icubator then they could be infertile.

hoi
if you have them incubate on a high temp then it can be they hatch in 60 days .
yess they dent 2,3 days before they hatch .
when you take some partikels of vermuciliite en put between youre fingers sqeese and you see drop water then its moist enough .
