Thats what this entire forum is about. Please read it thoroughly and then ask any questions you may have.

rc_racer_007 Aug 13, 2003 03:39 PM

Go ahead and ask away.

Heres what you can easily find on this site by searching

begginer frogs
how to set up
what to feed/how to feed/how to prepare
lighting

but first off ill answer it, Do Not Mix The Frogs with other animals/repitles/amphibians.

Ask away! I annoyed the crap out of people here the first month i was a member.

And keep in mind if some one says I dont mean to be rude but..... They are and just ignore them.

have fun!

Also go to some of the sponsors' web sites such as Saurian. Some of our members have web sites with care sheets and photos, as well. Darts are cool-- and not as difficult to keep as it may seem. And as AJ says, just ignore any patronizing. We all started out brand new to the hobby. Some people just seem to forget they got their experience somewhere other than a brain implant at birth.

I think "the I don't mean to be a jerk but--" people have mostly either mellowed or moved on, don't you, AJ? I think the most absurd comment to a new person was, "How dare you even think of keeping dart frogs when you have no experience with them?"

A warning label should be attached: These beautiful and delightful frogs are more addicting than opium.

ROFL, that was one of the funiest things i have read on KS, lol. Ill admite, ill say some derogitory or mean things every once in a while. Its mean and i apologize when i do it, but most seem to make a habit out of it.

I also ment to add this. Kingsnake should add perminant thread for newbies where we can add info to. (Have mods look it over first and add to it so it stays full of info) Have catagories such as easy darts are so and so. Then what lighting is best for plants. and so on. It would help newbies, it sure woulda helped me, and it would just be a great asset (sp?) to the dart frog forum.

just my idea.

I totally agree here with you AJ. A newbie thread would have been so very helpful for me in the beginning. The redundant questions of beginners do seem to get rather monotonous, but it's good to see that this hobby is constantly gaining new enthusiasts.

Have you ever even tried opium? Also no need to shout with all of those caps guy! Search the forum, most of the beginner stuff gets covered just about every week.

I've never tried opium personally. I've raised, mentored, and legally adoped over 20 drop-outs from drug rehab centers over the past 50 years however, so if the reference to frog addiction seemed trite to you. I apologize. I know about addiction. My current kids thought my reference to opium was funny. They are now straight, but I still want more frogs! It's our "in" joke.

Actually I thought it was pretty funny as well. I was just kidding around about you trying it! I guess I need to put a little smily face or lol after my jokes, I'm just not big on this computer jargon stuff! My wife and I are looking into foster care and adoption as well. Right now our poison frogs, lizards, snakes, and dogs are our children! Anyway, take care!

p.s. How far north are you in Idaho? We live in Orem UT now, up from Mesa AZ.

Please, read the FAQ about posting, it tells you to search first, it helps a lot!

I think that going to some of the better web sites for info is a great way to get info. Also, try going to the library. I know my library has several books about frogs and specifically about dart frogs. Liek everyone else said too don't be affraid to ask as mnay questions as you need to to be sure that you keep the frogs you like and that the frogs are kept the way they like. This is a fun hobby and filled w/ people that love frogs and nature in general. this forum is filled w/ experts and novices alike and that is what makes it a lot of fun. Good luck and if you need help we are all here to help.
