Breeding

David_Rawls Apr 06, 2007 03:39 PM

I put two of my females together with one of my males to start breeding. I have since removed the male because my females were both gravid and the male continued to stress them, so he was sent back to his house. Which by the way he has been trying to escape from ever since. Now both of my females have laid their eggs and they are incubating. The question is do I have to put the male back with them to get another clutch of eggs, or do they retain enough sperm to continue to lay eggs? I guess my main concern is for my females. If I have to breed them with the male again I at least want to give them a couple of weeks to recover from their first clutch of eggs before they start the cycle again. Thanks for any responses!

one good mating will 'last' all season. they retain the sperm.

Yup, no need to put the male back in.
