Selling and Shipping Baby Beardies.

Turtlegirl Aug 13, 2003 01:00 PM

Hey Everyone

I was wondering how old should my baby beardies be before I sell them? (they'll will be 4 weeks old on Sunday! )

Also, what is a good price to charge for a baby Beardy?
I won't be selling them as a certin 'morph' or anything, but they are cute, light colored Beardys.
Here are some pictures... (Sorry they're sooo fuzzy looking though! )

How do I ship them, and how much does it cost to do so?

I'm gonna try and sell them locally b4 I get into selling them online though cuz I'd rather not put them through the stress of shipping...

And I think I'll be keeping 2 of the little cuties.

Thank you for your time,
-----

Nice dragons even if there not "morphs" there still very cute. I saw your pics. Well when i go to the local reptile swap they usually sell baby normal BD's for around 35-45. Or you can sell them to a good petstore and you can get about 25 bucks a peice for them. But they'll try to sell them for around 65$. I dont know anything about packaging them. But i can guess the price ranges.

Thanks, does $35-40 sound like a good price?

And what is a good age to sell then at?

Thank you,

they should be a good size before you ship them, 6-7 inches at least, eating well and healthy. It really depends on color as for price... and also depends on what people want to pay, maybe 30-40 each? it hard to tell color from your pictures, normals sell at petsmart for 79 bucks, just to give you an idea. If you are going to sell "lots" of dragons, like 10-20 lots then you would give a group deal. Im not a breeder but going from what i know about what i see as far as pricing etc goes.

shipping runs anywhere from 35 dollars on, i reccomend airborne express overnight service, youll need to ship them in insulated boxes, styro lined boxes, that can be bought at local supply stores and even here on kingsnake youll find suppliers, as well as deli cups to put the dragons inside of.

dragon goes in deli cup on some moistened papertowel, deli cup is closed (make sure there are holes in the lid) tape the lid securly shut, tape the deli cup to the bottom of the box (to the styrofoam lining) surround the deli cup with crunched up newspaper, and seal up box, also punch some holes through the box just to be sure there is enough air. depending on the weather youll need cold packs which can be placed inside the styro box but not inside the cup the dragon is in. this will keep things cool for him. In all honesty, once you get through shipping price, and supply prices, you are much better off finding somewhere local to sell them if you can, its better for the little guys too best of luck,, frmo what i can tell in the pics, they are little cuties

Also make sure there over a month old. I see your dragons will be are about a month old aready but for future clutches make sure they are. This is because they are most vulnerable to disease and other problems. The best breaders will only sell them when they are ready. just a tip.

I agree... I only sell and ship after they are 6 weeks old

Just one of the few things I stick to. I have received some that are much younger, but personal prefrence with my own is to hold off till they are a little older
