looking to purchase a snake just for a pet...any opinions about these 2 great snakes?

irian jaya or dumeril?

Well my IJ are always on the move- enjoy laying in the plants and branches- are great display snakes and a pretty docile as adults- kinda nippy as juvies though but with handling they grow out of it- also very beautiful in my opinion- my son and I very much enjoy watching her in her terrarium- I on the other hand have spend close to an hour and ahalf watching her- I dont own a dumeril though so I cant tell you about that one- But the IJ are awesome snakes

in my personal experience with the two species,the irian jaya's are generally calmer,less flighty and wont eat you out of house and home like the dumeril's will.
On the other hand the dumeril's boas are very colorful and can be calmed down like any other snake.But they're disposition in my experience can relapse with lack of regular handling.
