more about eggs (including questions...)

Well, after one evening with the eggs in MUCH higher humidity, they all plumped up like little leathery water balloons... lol!

How long before the veins start to develope? How often should I pick them up to check their undersides for indenting/off-coloring/mold/etc? I want to be a good grandmommy to the eggs... and they are warm and happy, I think... loL! Thanks in advance!

ps - Dawn is eating, but not TOO much, so I worry if she'll get enough before she lays more eggs (IF she lays more eggs... I kinda hope so, but it's OK if she doesn't). And Spike is getting too fat, so we are quarentining him for dieting: 6 crix per day tops! We've had him with Dawn and Jewel for awhile, but he's just eating too much! loL! *sigh* children... (All three of them are cool together - Spike only cares about food, and Jewel jumps constantly, and Dawn pushes the guys around... lol!)

Once the eggs are placed in the vermiculite or whatever substrate your using they are not supposed to be disturbed/picked up to observe. You will be able to tell if they get moldy or dent/cave in, you will just SEE by looking and NOT touching :0)

You can after a while candle one and see if you see the lil one developing, but try and not touch or move the eggs just for your own lack of patience, hehehehehe, (we have all been there) but we learned the hard way, jostle them around , mess with them, and lose them :0(

Best wishes for hatchlings soon !
