My collection....PICS! Beware DIALUP!

medyssa Apr 07, 2007 09:06 PM

Okay so here is my update, I dont think I have done anything of this scale.
To start if I had known you all were posting BRB p@rn, I would have taken a picture of Noah and Dudette locked up this morning! :D Yep, "makin' copies! GIGGITY!" I was a bit too sleepy to bother taking a picture, plus I didnt want to disturb them.
Also, I am very proud to say my female '06 baby, Isis is officially BEEFY! She weighs in at 192 grams, and that after she pooed too! I dont know if that is extraordinary for a baby born 6-18-06 but I am happy about it. Zeek, her brother is about 160.
Also, Cleo, one of the females I snagged on CL is packing on the weight. She has yet to eat for me (I got her in October) but she seemed to be OVER weight then, she is a bit shorter than my other females, at about 4.5 feet, and at almost 6 pounds I was a worried that she had been over fed. She now sniffs food, and wraps around it, but eventually leaves it be. She seems ok. (Let me know if this sounds funny guys.)
I cant tell if Cherry is gravid or not. Unfortunately I cant get her to sit still for a precise weight, but she is about 5.5 lbs and still eating a rat every week. Did you ever find her card Dave?
Noah I am still mad at, but today was in his favor because of him hooking up with Dudette.
Ah yes, my new additions, Dude and Dudette. I am happy with these two although Dude's eye isnt in the best condition. Dudette seems to have had a bunch of bad sheds, but is feeling smoother after soaking in moss for the whole 2 weeks of her quarantine. Dude is also doing well, he shed in one piece and a thick layer of eye caps came off with it. He still seems to have a buildup on his eye though. When it was clear his eye was moving and looked okay through the caps, but I didnt want to try anything too invasive. Any recomendations? He has been alternating between soaking in water and also sitting in the moss. I am hoping it will eventually help.
Copper doesnt seem to be putting on much weight, but she didnt last year either, she is eating fine and acting like she is gravid, ie. doesnt want to be touched, moves very slowly.
I am going to be working on building a hatchling rack system soon, or I might just use my tax refund to buy a couple nice ones. Any one recommend a certain type? I would prefer not to spend too much, and I already have a few people interested, including a couple pet store owners.
In the pictures of my snakes I also included some of my non-BRBs.
I hope you guys enjoy!

6 pounds is 2721.554g , I would say she is a little porker for her length, can you post her pic or direct me to which one she is that is already posted. As long as she appears in good health and drinks water, she could use a little fast anyway. My male just went of feed due to smelling some female pheronomes. But well fed snakes sometimes fast for other reasons as well. Females also sometimes stop eatting as well due to seasonal hormonal changes. I am assuming she was not a wild caught fresh import, they are usualy thin with realy large looking heads in comparison to their bodies, so this seems very unlikely.

Sorry, very bottom image in the first post. And she has not lost any weight, if she didnt move around so much I might be bale ot get a good measure of her weigh now, but as she stands she is about 6.25 lbs now. I should change her name to chubby, but we'll see how many babies she has and what she looks like after. I was glad that I didnt have to fatten her up at all. The guy I got her from said she was eating a medium rat twice a week! But the person he rescued her from wasnt feeding her at all!
Here she is again!

Jess,
...Good post and nice snakes. I would bet that Cleo is more like 5.5 feet than 4.5 feet. But, they are tough to measure when they are gravid. Good luck.
Jeff

Hey Jess, I use some free software from serp widgets to get a real accurate measurement.

serpwidgets.com/Apps/measure.html

You simply take a pic from directly overhead with a known length object in it along with your snake. Cliakc two points and define that length, then you can "draw" with a series of points from the head to the tail and it will measure the relative length of that line. Very accurate and the snake does NOT have to be straight. Can even cross over itself. You doi need to see the tip of head and tail and not too crossed up or gets difficult to draw line.

That'll be ahuge help, thanks dave! Although I wasnt able to get her out of her hide box yesterday, She was conveniently placed so I could measure her weight, and I estimated that she is just under 6 and a half pounds.

I assume the middle pic is Dude? That eye looks bad, maybe lost. Still though, with good care and humidity, it will improve. Reminds me of Savannah, Both her eyes were crusty though not that bad. And her skin was all dried out as well.

Just keep them in good humidity and they shouod improve, may take some time!!
