Picked up this little lady at the show last weekend She's an Orchid Mantis about 2 months old. She'll only live to about 7 months, but she is very photogenic and fun to watch!

Enjoy!!!

looks like a boiled shrimp with legs. Kinda like something you'd see in a Japanese sushi bar in Japan. Very clear pics, though. Rather interesting. Not as scare you Lele's scary sch-pi-diders

...familiar with "wraith speak"

The orchid and other exotic mantids are so cool looking. I have often thought of getting one for a pet, but that short life is a deterrent. Look forward to her teen and adult years - uh, days

Interesting that you posted that. I took this picture yesterday morning of my resident mantis. It's eating a 1/4" cricket, saving the head for later.

LOL, saving the best for last!!

I've named my girl Flower and she was just finishing up her post-dinner cleaning session. She's really weird about cleaning up after a meal. She's only about 1.5 inches right now, but full grown she'll get about 4-6 inches and the adults are beautiful!!!! Not sure if you can see in these pics but she has a nice pink outline, purple eyes and it looks like she has blue eyeliner. My hubby won't let me get a male.... he knows what happens to them after they mate.

I'm bummed too that they don't live long, so I'll just have to take a ton of pictures for the memories!

Sounds alot like human relationships:

Female and male find eachother

Settle down

Set up a white pickett fence

Female gets a kid or two out of him

Bites his head off

Reminds me of my short term marriage, I just avoided dying...
