cable vs heat tape

rbchesapeakeball Apr 08, 2007 07:39 AM

Hello Everyone,

All of the racks we currently use are heated with indirect heat tape. Our snake rooms are kept at 75-78 degrees. We are looking to buy some more racks and would like to hear what you all think. Pros and cons, which are more safe, more economical, etc.

Thanks in advance,

They work about the same, although you spend less money with cable both in cost and electric, but the heated area is smaller.

I just did this research over the past few weeks.

I am going to use cable on my next rack.

It was suggested that you router a little ditch across the back of the rack shelf & then use aquarium glue to keep it in place.

Most all agreed that cable is most heat & energy efficient way to go vs. flexwatt tape.

The cable can be purchased on any of the sites that advertise on this forum.

Good luck & post pix when you are done.
