I have an idea in my head to make a vivarium coffee table out of a 40 gallon breeder tank.
or something like that. I am thinking of putting red earsliders etc.
has anyone done this or know of any coffee table plans for vivaria??
Thanks

No, but my friend was thinking of doing sort of the same thing, but for a snake. It sounds like it would work. If you find any plans please let me know.
Well they have table fish tanks... i'm sure that it would be alot easier to adapt one of these into a vivarium.
If you wanted to make one your self you need to keep a couple things in mind. Tempered glass isn't cheap, anything else will probably break or scratch. You need to have air flow, this can be tricky, i'd guess have the top sheet of glass on some sort of spacer to leave an inch or so all around for air.

A 40gal is WAY to small for an adult RES. Females can get up to 12in needing at least a 120gal tank and up. How would you create a basking area? You would need a heatlamp to go over it and with the table top it would be difficult to do so. Also you need UVB lighting which is filtered out by glass/plexi so you would also have take that into account. Fish would do better. Turtlse are not suited for that kind of enclosure.
