King Rat Snake

minicopilot Apr 08, 2007 08:43 PM

After hearing mixed stories on the temperaments of King Rat Snakes I bought a baby a little while ago.
The snake musked a lot the first few times I handled him and was a bit flighty much like a Garter Snake, but now he is extremely handleable and rarely ever musks and if he does it's barely noticeable.
I never bought one a King Rat because of the horror stories I used to hear, but I'm glad I did. Very impressive snake.
I don't know how long I'll keep this snake as there seems to be a lack of available females to pair him up with, but these are very cool snakes to work with!

Tom Davis in Florida used to breed them, might give him a try. Impressive snakes.

Yes, they are very impressive! I saw the ad for the Albino and het King Rats and was tempted to buy them. Short money for a trio.
I don't know who Mr Davis is in Fla.
