cat_h Apr 09, 2007 12:32 PM

Hey guys,

I'm fairly new to tree boas and was wondering of any of you knew a certain way to tell between the hortulanus and the cookii?? scale counts or something? i know they're very closely related but was wondering if theres actually any morphological difference between the two.

sorry if this question has a really obvious answer!!

thanks for you time, any replies would be greatly appreciated

hi there, I'm fairly new to tree boas too...actually I just purchased my first one over the weekend; it was labeled "Red Cooks Tree Boa", but I don't think that's correct...as soon as I get a decent pic I'll post it for someone to ID properly. Anyways, I don't know if this will be any help to you, but I found this site quit informative. http://www.corallus.com/species.html

Cook's are smaller and they have less dorsal scales (39-48) and the amazons have 50 dorsal scales.
