How long do you wait for eggs?

wolfwoman Apr 09, 2007 01:59 PM

Hello,
This is my first time breeding. I bred two snakes about a month ago. The female had a prenatal shed, she is not eating as much as before, but she really isn't showing yet. How long do you wait before you realize there will be no eggs?

It normally takes 10-14 days after a pre-lay shed for her to deposit eggs

Go ahead and put a nest box in for her! Just last night I said that I thought my Okeetee was not really gravid, and this morning she gave me 20 eggs! Glad I had the nest box already in there! Ususally they lay withing 2 weeks of shed, so get ready!!!

If the snakes have successfully bred, then it's usually around 6 weeks before the female will lay eggs. Prior to that, she will have a pre-egglaying shed, which typically takes place 10 days before egg deposition.

Thanks for the responses, she does have a nesting box so I guess I'll wait and see what happens.
