just shedding??

Shadow4108 Apr 09, 2007 02:31 PM

My new baby seems to spend ALL of her time in her humid hide. Is this okay.. it's been 4 days. I have seen no signs of a shed. She does come in and out, is she sick? She seems to be interested in eating (she had 5 mealworms since last night, and i did see a poop in her "potty corner".. (2 in 4 days)) She eats a little more everyday that we have her. I've never had a leo before, so I'm a little worried. Should I be?

Leopard geckos are nocturnal, and as which you probably aren't seeing most of your gecko's activity. My gecko spends all day moving between his hides as he thermo regulates, and at night comes out to tramp around his kingdom. You should be happy your gecko has found a hide he likes and actually uses it!

Also, chances are you won't see the shed happen. I've seen my gecko shed twice since September, once because he did it the day I got him, and another time because he was making too much noise crunching away at his skin. I'm in the position of thinking not seeing the shed is better than seeing it stuck to toes.

Nothing to worry about! Lik said before they are nocturnal so you most likley will not see him most of the time. If you want a lizard to see during the day you would need a beardie or a URO!!
