tokays new cage

tokaysrnice Apr 09, 2007 05:45 PM

this is the cage i made out of an old sunglass display case. i took out the shelves and constructed the background with greatstuff and styrofoam then coated it with four layers of vinyle concrete with different pigment in it. I picked up the bamboo from a local bamboo shop and all the fake plants from a craft store.the hole thing took me about 2 weeks of construction and then 2 weeks of dry time. The cost minus the case i got for free was about 150 dollars. The tokays have been in it for about two months and the only problems i've had are the first couple weeks of feeding them and they ate the crickets with such gusto they screwed their faces up from hitting the concrete. It seems like they learned thier lesson and they don't go after the crickets quit as aggresively.

That is such a cool cage! And perfect for tokays, all things considered. Surprised to see you can hold that guy. Is he tame, or did you have to drug him first? :~) Again, congratulations on a very nice vivarium.

Thanks i've been waiting to post it. The tokay is my male and hes pretty cool once i pin him in the cage and he gets a good poo and thrash out, the female on the other hand is quicker than hell and i don't mess with her much. heres a pic i took the other day

That is a beautiful enclosure. One of the better naturalistics I've seen for Tokays.

Nice. Do you have any step by step pictures of the construction process? Or any close up pictures of the background?
