BRB Activity Levels

run26neys Apr 09, 2007 09:32 PM

I have had my baby BRB for about a month now. It seems like it is doing well, and had a clean bill of health from the vet. Compared to my spotted python and CA King it seems like it soes not move around too much. Is this mornal for BRB's?

My python becomes super active as soon as the lighting goes off and the house quiets down. The BRB does seems to 'warm up' and move around afeter I hold it for a couple of minuets. After eating it hangs out more on the warm side and later in the week on the cool side - this seems noraml too me.

It has ate once a week since I got it, and just had a clean shed. I have a propostianal thermostat to reg temps (81 hot side & 72 cool side), 75 to 85% humidity, three hides and a decent sized water bowl, and use cypress mulch for bedding.

Everything sounds good with temps and humidity levels. They find the warm side to digest the food and then they seek the cold side after (mind do). I find that when I have my room completely dark, I'll probably have a few of 'em come out of their hides but not to much when it is just dark assuming that they have not eaten in the last two days. They are pretty shy and when they are out and about it is usually looking for some food I would imagine. Your little guy is doing just fine cuz the shedding in one piece is a clear indicator so he seems very happy and healthy.

Welcome to the forum. Everything you describe sounds just right. After they get larger they are less secretive but still very nocturnal. I was just in the snake room and there were dozens of them out moving around in their cages in the dark.

Like Bob and Jeff said, all sounds good, just wanted to add that babies quite often will hide and only come out when hungry.
