motofan Apr 09, 2007 11:56 PM

could someone give me a little insight on boa's soaking while gravid, this is my first time breeding boa's and i have 3 females that seem to be gravid and since they all went thru ovulation none of them are soaking at all where as before they would soak pretty regularly, is this normal? and if so can someone give me a reason, thank's .. A gravid boa is less likely to soak because they need to keep thier body temperatures a few degrees higher than normal. You will probably notice that she will spend more time on the heat than usual as well. My gravid girl likes to keep her temps between 86° and 88° with occasional trips above or below that (but not often). Soaking could prevent the body of the snake from reaching those temps.

Good luck with this season's breedings
